A Note from your CTPS President
I'd like to thank everyone for making our 10th Annual Membership Exhibition & Competition at the Temple Cultural Activities Center such a success! Sue Spohn did an outstanding job! Thanks, too, to all the volunteers who helped hang the show: Chuck & Margaret Roush, Nancy Manoogian, Jeri Salter, Bob Stover, Nancy Ohlenbush, Bob Douglass, Kathleen Hornyak, and Jane Frederick.
At the opening reception, an artist friend expressed her excitement seeing the noticeable growth of skills in our members' work. The exhibit at CAC is truly a "showcase" of our memberships' talent. It will be on display until October 22, when we will be picking up our paintings.
Thanks, also, to Denise Mahlke & Jeri Salter for organizing the Dinah Worman Workshop. I've heard only positive comments about it. Sounds like it was a valued learning experience for everyone attending.
Can you believe....Central Texas Pastel Society is 13 years old...a teenager! Your board is looking forward to an exciting, productive year. Thank you, Charter Members, for making this all possible for us....learning experiences through monthly programs and "challenge painting subjects", fellowship of other artists, opportunities to exhibit and sell our artwork,
Here are some items of interest to our members:
Char Sylvest has declined the position of membership chairperson for personal reasons. Mary Beth Martin has been appointed (with board approval) and has accepted. Thank you, Char, for your years of service to CTPS.
Our website www.centexpastel.com is replacing our Pastel Expressions newsletter. We will be posting upcoming events, meeting information, list of challenge paintings, articles, photographs of events/meetings, membership information, workshop opportunities, and a membership gallery. Thank you, Nancy Manoogian, for being our newsletter editor from the beginning! Thanks, too, to Jane Frederick and all the others to contributed to the newsletter. Hopefully, members will continue to write articles and contribute to our online site.
Dues for September 2011-August 2012 should be paid now so we can get the directory published. There will be a drawing for a box of 120 half-stick Sennelier pastels, the "Paris Collection" at the October meeting for those members who pay their dues before Sept 30th. Annual dues are: $30 individual membership, $45 for family, and $25 for student and senior.
Dues may be paid through our website (www.centexpastel.com ), at our Sept 17th meeting, or by mailing them to
