If you haven't seen a paint around yet, you are in for a treat.

  1. Several artists set up easels in a circle.
  2. Each artist starts a painting and works on it for 10- 15 minutes. The subjects vary, from still life, figurative, cityscape, landscape and wildlife.
  3. A bell rings and each painting and reference photo is passed to the next artist.
  4. Each artist paints for 10-15 minutes on that painting.
  5. This round-about continues until the artist who began the painting gets it back.
  6. Then, each artist gets a final 10-15 minutes to finish their painting.

It is a fascinating opportunity to see how each artist works and how each interprets the same reference material in different ways. At the end, participating artists sign each painting. Julie Choate also set up an easel for everyone who wanted to paint-around.

Members manned the booth and some volunteers including  Jan Frazier, Jane Frederick and Alora Johns, painted demos to show passersby how it's done.
